My Ultimate Gift List for a 3 Year Old

Our daughter’s third birthday is coming up, so I thought I would share My Ultimate Gift List for a 3 Year Old. It’s a great starting point for anyone looking for a gift to give a toddler! These are toys my daughter already adores, so they’ve been toddler tested. As always, feel free to share more ideas with me on Instagram!

1. Books

You know I can’t make My Ultimate Gift List for a 3 Year Old without including books. You can find them at thrift stores, garage sales, antique stores, or even the traditional book store. Books are always an excellent gift for anyone, especially little kids.

2. Kinetic Sand or Play-Doh

We are big fans of Kinetic Sand in this house. Does it get gross after awhile? Yes. Does it sometimes cause a mess? Obviously. But is it one of my daughter’s favorite things to play with? Unfortunately, yes.

3. No-Mess Colors or Paints

Speaking of making a mess, there are activities that make no mess at all! We love the Crayola Color Wonder Mess-Free Markers and Paint sets. They are truly magic, and it’s so nice to know I can leave my daughter alone for a few minutes with the markers and they aren’t going to end up coloring the furniture.

4. Play Kitchen

One of our most used toys in the house is the play kitchen. Read all about how we transformed a simple Ikea kitchen here.

5. A Character Set

My daughter loves her little character sets. We have Mickey & Friends, Elemental, Toy Story, Frozen, and so many more. They are small, easy to store and can be used in pretend play. If you have or know a kiddo who loves a particular movie or show, getting them a character set is a great idea!

6. Memberships

Another thoughtful gift for a three-year-old is a membership to a local zoo, discovery center or play place. I know my daughter loves all of those places, and it’s also a gift for the parents, so that’s a bonus.

7. Pretend Cleaning Set

Ronia loves to help me with the chores, and it’s the sweetest thing. (Does it make chores last twice as long? Yes.) She has this little Melissa and Doug cleaning set that she uses to “tidy.” It’s adorable and sort of helpful, but mostly it teaches her important life skills.

8. Reusable Sticker Books or Stickers

Stickers in general are a very big deal in our household. There are currently several glow in the dark stickers on my laptop. Reusable sticker books are nice, because they last a bit longer and can be great entertainment for the car or a plane ride. However, you can’t go wrong with random stickers from the Dollar Tree.

9. Board Games

Ronia is just getting to an age where she could play some very basic board games. They are also fun to give as a gift, because the whole family can enjoy some quality time while playing.

10. Dress Up Clothes

Another big deal in our house is playing dress-up. My daughter probably wears at least three outfits a day. She loves to accessorize and make things match. So we have a lot of dresses, skirts and costumes for her to try. Read about Where to Find the Best Dress Up Clothes here.

11. Makeup or Doctor Kit

Two of the most played with things in my daughters playroom are the makeup and doctor kits. She loves to pretend to do peoples make-up and hair or that they are extremely ill.

12. Your attention.

This last gift idea might seem cheesy, but it needs to be said. The one thing my daughter wants more than any toy is my attention. You don’t need to get your kiddo a bunch of stuff to show your love. Just give them your full and undivided attention. Honestly, that will be enough.
