Ways to Get Re-Inspired This Winter

Winter can be a depressing season, at least in Kansas. It’s darker and dreary and cold. Getting inspired can be difficult when things are so blah. However, I’ve compiled a list of 6 Ways to Get Re-Inspired This Winter. What do you do to re-ignite your creativity? Feel free to send me a message on Instagram to share!

1. Watch the Snow

We live in Kansas, so a typical winter gives us plenty of snow. I’m not a fan of being cold, but I love to sit all snuggled inside with a nice slice of banana bread or warm drink and watch the flakes fall. Giving yourself little moments like this to be silent and enjoy nature can be very inspiring.

2. Read a New (or Old) Book

Every January I re-read Little Women. It’s one of my favorite books and always leaves me feeling calm, centered and inspired. It’s the best way to begin my new year. Reading the Bible is always life-giving, or you could find a nice poetry book to peruse.

3. Get Rid of the Clutter

You’ve heard me day it a thousand times, but I will say it again. Getting rid of mess and clutter in your home is one of the best and easiest ways to get re-inspired. My brain just cannot function when my house is a disaster. Give yourself a fresh start this year with a more organized home.

4. Bake Something New

My daughter is three now, and one of our favorite things to do together is bake. Sometimes it’s chaos and other times it’s so sweet. You can’t think straight on an empty stomach, right? Getting inspired this winter might be as simple as baking a batch of cookies.

5. Attempt a New Hobby

One of my goals for 2024 is to learn how to sew and watercolor. For some reason trying new hobbies makes me feel as though I’m using a part of my brain that is usually gathering dust. Does that make sense? It helps me release creativity that has to sit dormant most of the time.

6. Wander an Art Gallery

The final item on my list of Ways to Get Re-Inspired This Winter is to wander an art gallery. What could be more inspiring than art? The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City is one of most beautiful places I’ve ever had the privilege of visiting. It always leaves me feeling refreshed and creative.
