Sharing My Goals for the New Year

Happy New Year! I’m sure you are tired of hearing about and making new goals for 2024. Please indulge me while I share mine. I do so not only to give you inspiration, but to motivate myself. I have a good feeling about this year, and I’m excited to see all the magic it will bring. Read Sharing My Goals for the New Year below!

1. Read 50 Books

I know, starting off strong. However, I’ve always been an avid reader and between audible and physical books I was able to read between 30-40 books this year. My goal for 2024 is a bit ambitious, but I’m excited to chase this goal.

2. Make More Food at Home

One of my goals for last year was to start making more food at home, and I did not even start. So, this year I really want to give it a shot. Things like granola, sandwich bread, and even mayo can be easily made at home and I would like to give it a try. I’d also love for us to eat out less, because it’s better for the budget and for our health.

3. Grow a Garden

Speaking of food, my third goal for this year is to attempt another garden. We had some hiccups last year with our first garden and I think I’ve learned how to make improvements. I will be sure to share updates as we go along!

4. Improve Our Budget

Another improvement I want to make is to our budget. Last year I was a little less diligent about the small purchases, and they can truly add up over time. I want to know where every penny is going.

5. Develop a Better Morning Routine

2023 was the year of sleeping a little later. I used to love my morning routine and time to myself, but my desire for more rest completely derailed my routines. I’m determined to get that morning time back, because it does wonders for my energy and spirit.

6. Cultivate a Calm Spirit

Speaking of spirit.. a very personal goal of mine for 2024 is to cultivate more calm in my soul. Basically, I don’t like how snappy I can get and how angry I feel some days. Being a stay at home mom can be challenging, but I don’t want that anger to ruin all the beauty.

7. Focus on Health

Like most people, I am looking to focus more on my health in the new year. However, unlike past years I am trying to focus less on the number on a scale and more on my overall wellbeing. Am I exercising? Fueling my body? Getting enough sleep and quiet time with the Lord? I want to focus on tending to all those things.

8. More Travel as a Family

We traveled quite a bit as a family in 2023, and it was incredible. I would love to plan and execute several more trips as a family and enjoy that time together. Even if we don’t end up going on a big trip, taking a drive to a small town nearby can be wonderful. Can you tell my love language is quality time?

9. Yard Work Completed

Our yard is mostly dirt, because grass will not grow. I’m convinced the soil is unwell. Anyway… we are on a list for Spring to have our yard worked on, so I’m very excited for that process and to see our home finally have a proper lawn!

10. Sew More

My daughter loves to wear dresses, so my final goal for 2024 is to learn how to sew dresses for her and her dolls. Sewing is a skill I would love to teach her someday when she gets older, so I need to make sure I know how to do it properly first.
