How to Entertain a Toddler at Universal Studios Orlando

One of my favorite places on this earth is Universal Studios in Orlando. I can’t really explain it, but to my husband and I it feels like a second home. That’s why it’s so special to visit now with our daughter. People ask me all the time How to Entertain a Toddler at Universal Studios Orlando. Is there anything for her to do? And the answer is yes! Read below to discover all the wonderful things to do with young kids at Universal Studios.

1. Meet Characters

There are so many characters to meet at Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure. We were able to see Poppy and Branch from Trolls, The Penguins and Lemurs of Madagascar, Spongebob and Patrick, Transformers, Gru with a Minion and even a baby dinosaur in Jurassic Park. Our daughter loves to meet all the characters and take pictures. It might be her favorite part about going to the park!

2. Go to a Show

Her second favorite part about visiting Universal Studios is seeing the shows. Everywhere you go someone is signing or performing. Her favorite shows are in the Wizarding World, including the Frog Choir, Celestina and her Banshees and even the Tales of Beedle the Bard. They also have lights on the castle and night as well as fireworks. And that’s just in the Wizarding World! There are also fun shows in Dr. Seuss land for toddlers and in various other locations throughout the parks.

3. Get a Treat

You can’t go to the theme park and not get a special treat. One day Ronia got an oatmeal cookie (pictured above) and another morning we had ice cream for a morning snack. It’s so fun to try new things together.

4. Go on Rides

Admittedly there are few rides a toddler can ride at Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure, but there are a few! It also depends on their height. My daughter is able to ride the following rides:

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish
The Caro-Seuss-el
The Hogwarts Express
Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl
ET Adventure

She hasn’t actually ridden all of these, but she could. There are a few other rides for toddlers or young kiddos who are a little older as well. I won’t add Cat in the Hat, because I hear its a little creepy…

5. Play at Splash Pads

My final suggestion as to How to Entertain a Toddler at Universal Studios Orlando is to play at the splash pads. There is one in Toon Lagoon, Jurassic Park, and another in Dr. Seuss Landing. If you or your kiddo needs a break from the Florida heat, splash pads are always a good idea.

Oh, and as a bonus idea you could also have some fun at the few arcades located around the parks. Our daughter loves a good arcade!
