How Your Dad Really Wants to Celebrate Father’s Day

Mother’s Day is gone and soon we will be celebrating all the amazing fathers out there. Are you wondering How Your Dad Really Wants to Celebrate Father’s Day? Last week I asked several dad’s how they would like to be celebrated and below are five of their answers. You might be surprised what they had to say!

How Your Dad Really Wants to Celebrate Father's Day

1. Your dad would like to take a long nap.

All the fathers I spoke with said they would love to rest. Whether that be a long nap, lounging on the patio or snuggling on the couch with their loved ones. They all wanted to have some sort of rest. Dad’s work hard and they deserve a little rest and relaxation, so be sure to schedule it into your Father’s Day plans!

2. Your dad would like some quality time.

I found it so beautiful that every dad I spoke with said they would want to spend the entire day with their family. From sun up to sundown. Just pure quality time. That isn’t too complicated when you think about it. Sometimes we try and make elaborate plans when all dad really wants is to be at home with his family.

3. Your dad would like to eat delicious food.

Another thing my dad-friends mentioned was delicious food. They all had very specific ideas about the types of food they would want to make or eat with their loved ones. What is your dad’s favorite meal? Does he like to grill or does he prefer to eat out? Delicious food is important to most dads on Father’s Day.

4. Your dad would like to get outside.

When I was interviewing different dads they all mentioned some form of outdoor time. Fishing, grilling, hiking or time at the zoo. Some of them simply wanted to watch their kids play in the backyard while others wanted to take a road trip to a trail or park. If the weather allows, be sure you add a little outdoor time to your plans this coming Father’s Day.

5. Your Dad Would the Gift of Time.

When talking to all the dad’s I know about what they would like to do on Father’s Day, I discovered a common theme was simplicity. No fancy plans or packed schedules. Just a simple day filled with their loved ones. When you are making plans for your dad this Father’s Day, remember that he doesn’t need a big gift. He just wants time with you, time to rest and time to enjoy the life he is so busy building. Give your dad the gift of time this year.
