1. Little Blue Truck’s Christmas by Alice Schertle

The Little Blue Truck series is a new favorite in our household. Ronia loves the rhyming and little sounds that you have to make when you read these stories. The Christmas one is extra special because there’s a lit tree on the last page. She requests this book every night before bed.

2. Llama Llama Jingle Bells by Anna Dewdney

Llama Llama is a simple and fun read. This book is my go-to if we don’t have a lot of time before bed. Also, I mean, can you ever go wrong with Llama Llama?

3. No Two Alike by Keith Baker

I was looking for more wintery books rather than Christmas-themed ones for Ronia this year, and I found this little gem on Amazon. We have a thing for cardinals, and this book is sweet. Highly recommend.

4. The Nutcracker by New York City Ballet

The Nutcracker is a little wordy, but it is such a classic tale I had to add it to her book collection. Actually, her great grandpa got her this book for her birthday. Ronia loves the pictures. I paraphrase the words for her, but someday we will be able to read the whole thing.

5. I Spy: Little Christmas by Jean Marzollo

Colton and I found this little I Spy book at a consignment sale before Ronia was born. She has really been liking this one lately.

6. Don’t Push the Button: A Christmas Adventure by Bill Cotter

Ronia might be Larry the monsters biggest fan. She loves anything to do with Bill Cotter’s Don’t Push the Button series. This book might be her favorite on the list of Ronia Recommends: 12 Winter Board Books for Your Baby.

7. There’s an Elf in Your Book by Tom Fletcher

Another staple in our house are the Tom Fletcher books. She’s not as fond of the Elf in Your Book as others, but I think it’s because it’s slightly more advanced. She still asks for us to read it so…

8. Gingerbread Baby or The Hat by Jan Brett

Okay, technically this is two books, which makes the list 13. We snagged these at the same consignment sale we found the I Spy book. I’ve always loved the Jan Brett books. There is so much detail to her illustrations, which I think Ronia will appreciate more when she is older.

9. You’re My Little Christmas Cookie by Natalie Marshall

What I love about this book by Natalie Marshall is the words of affirmation. All of her books do such a great job of speaking affirmation to your baby and even to yourself. They also have cut-outs, which Ronia loves.

10. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis

I’m counting this as a winter book, because if you have read the original book or seen the movie, then you know it takes place 80% in the winter. There are also strong Christmas themes woven throughout the story, which I love. It’s a great way to introduce CS Lewis to your little one.

11. Baby Jesus by Usborne

Speaking of faith, it wouldn’t be a winter book list without a book about the birth of Jesus. Ronia has fallen in love with this book. She asks for it a couple times a day, which I find so sweet. It’s a good way to talk about the reason for the season in a way she can sort of understand.

12. Little Owls Snow by Divya Srinivasan

The final book on our list is Little Owls Snow. Ronia saw snow once last year, but I doubt she remembers what it was like. I am hoping it snows at least once this winter so she can see it again. This book is a good way to explain winter and snow to her.
