7 Sensible Gift Ideas for a 1 Year Old
Christmas is fast approaching, and people are always asking me what types of gifts Ronia might enjoy. Now I’m not one to fill our home with a bunch of random stuff, so I did some thinking and came up with 7 Sensible Gift Ideas for a 1 Year Old. The thing about babies/toddlers is that they are easily entertained. Think outside the box this Christmas when shopping for the one year old in your life.

1. Soft Flash Cards
By far Ronia’s favorite toy is her soft flash card set. We look at them ever day and talk about the letters and pictures. She just loves them. And they are machine-washable, so that’s convenient. I recommend soft flash cards like these for any one year old you may know.
2. Books
Ronia loves to read with us, but the thing about reading before she naps or goes to bed or while she plays… you tend to run out of books. In my opinion, a kid can’t have too many books (especially if they love to read). I recommend choosing board books like these, because they aren’t as easy ruined.
3. Magnets
It’s hard to cook a meal with a little baby hanging on my legs. Magnets are an excellent distraction for any baby or toddler, so try finding safe magnets to give as a gift.
4. Swim Lessons
Swim lessons are a very practical gift for a baby. The earlier you start with lessons, the better off they will be. This is an especially good idea for babies who love water. We are looking forward to seeing how Ronia handles her swim lessons in the new year.
5. Play Dates
Play dates are an excellent gift not only for a one year old, but for parents as well! Kids need social interaction as much as we do. I love watching Ronia interact with her cousins and friends. If you are looking for a simple gift for a one year old, try scheduling a play date.
6. Snacks
Toddlers love food. Ronia is constantly snacking and asking for whatever I am eating, so snacks are a very sensible gift for any 1 year old.
7. Clothes
My sweet baby girl is growing so fast it’s crazy. I feel like she was just in six months clothes and now she’s officially in 18 month. Babies grow fast, so another gift idea for a one year old would be clothes. Babies are also constantly getting dirty and needing changed, so you can never have too many clothes.
Socks are a particularly wise thing to buy for babies. They are tiny and easily lost and get filthy when they crawl around… I can’t tell you how many socks we’ve misplaced.
