How to Celebrate Våffeldagen With Your Family

Secondary to Christmas, Våffeldagen might be the most important holiday to my family. Våffeldagen is by definition, National Swedish Waffle Day. up, you read that right. It’s a day that celebrates waffles and boy do we love a good waffle. Curious about How to Celebrate Våffeldagen With Your Family? Then read below to learn more!

1. Eat a Lot of Waffles

The most obvious way to celebrate Våffeldagen is to eat a lot of waffles. It is National Swedish Waffle Day, so the consumption of waffles is entirely appropriate. Use this day as an excuse to load up on those carbs and take a nap, because Våffeldagen decrees it. So there.

2. Try a New Recipe

Speaking of waffles, why not try out a new recipe this year? Sure, it’s easy to make batter from a box mix (and there’s nothing wrong with that), but if you are feeling a little creative this year then try out a new recipe. Who knows? It might be a new family favorite.

3. Eat at the Dining Table

Sitting around the dining table to eat a meal as a family is becoming a lost art. This year on Våffeldagen, I encourage you to put away the phones and turn off the TV to enjoy a good old-fashioned meal together at the table. Come up with some conversation topics and choose to be fully present and in the moment while you eat.

4. Make it Dessert

Not a breakfast person? You can still celebrate Våffeldagen by making it dessert. Top your waffle with ice cream, chocolate or even caramel drizzle. Eat them at 6:00am or midnight. There’s really never a bad time for a waffle.

5. Plate Your Meal

It takes a little extra effort to make a beautiful waffle, so take the time to plate your meal and make it look good. Then snap a few photos to remember the moment. Take photos with your family, too! Våffeldagen is an annual event, so these photos will help you to remember all the best parts of this unique holiday.
