The Very Best Valentine Books for Your Toddler

With Valentine’s Day coming up next month I thought I would give you a few ideas for some books to read with your toddler. Some of the books on this list were on last year’s list, but we added a few fun new reads. Check out our list below of The Very Best Valentine Books for Your Toddler. Happy reading!

1. You’re My Little Cuddle Bug by Nicola Edwards

This series of books are some of my favorites to read to Ronia. They are filled with wonderful affirmations and I want my daughter to know how much she is loved, how smart she is and how brave. Sometimes it’s easy to forget to do those type of affirmations, so books like this one are a good reminder.

2. Love Monster by Rachel Bright

Love Monster is one of the sweetest books I have had the pleasure of reading to Ronia. Some of you know how much she loves Monsters Inc, so this book was a good choice for her. It follows the journey of a monster looking for someone like him whom he can love. Such a sweet valentine book choice.

3. I Love You, Stinky Face by Lisa McCourt

I Love You Stinky Face was a new find for me this Valentine season. It’s really creative and cute. The illustrations might be a bit advanced for Ronia, but she seems to like it anyway. It’s about a little boy asking his mama about all sorts of scenarios to see if she would still love him. For instance, would she still love him if he was a smelly skunk called Stinky Face?

4. Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse! by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond

If you or your kids are fans of the Give a Mouse a Cookie books, then this is a perfect valentine book for you! All the characters from that series play a part in celebrating Valentine’s Day together. It’s very nostalgic for me to read.

5. Llama Llama I Love You by Anna Dewdney

You can’t have a holiday book haul without Llama Llama. These books are so sweet and do such a good job of introducing traditions with cute rhymes. We love Llama Llama.

6. Little Blue Truck’s Valentine by Alice Schertle and Jill McElmurry

The Little Blue Truck books are excellent for practicing animal sounds and names. Ronia has so far learned to growl like a lion and hoot like a monkey. Watching her learn is one of my favorite hobbies. In this version of Little Blue Truck he is handing out unique Valentines to all of his friends.

7. I Love You All Ways by Marianne Richmond

I Love You All Ways is another affirmation book about how much you love your baby no matter what. You can never say I love you too many times. It’s so important for our children to hear.

8. Bananas For You by Sabrina Moyle

Ronia got this book as a gift last year and she thinks it’s pretty funny. (Especially the page that says, I love you more than undies love butts). It’s a quick read, but is still cute and makes a great Valentine gift for the kiddos in your life.

9. The ABCs of Love by Patricia Hegarty

The ABCs of Love is such a precious little book that walks through every letter of the alphabet. I forgot we bought this book last year (or were given it as a gift? Can’t remember) but I’m looking forward to reading it with Ronia. We’ve been learning about the alphabet, so it’s perfect!

10. I Spy Little Hearts by Jean Marzollo

If you read the I Spy books as a kid, then you know exactly what this is all about. There’s only a couple things to find and it’s much more simple (because it’s for a toddler). This book would make a good Valentine gift.

11. Turkey’s Valentine Surpise by Wendi Silvano

The Turkey books are becoming a new favorite with our family. If you like a good pun, then you will definitely love this series. In Turkey’s Valentine Surprise, Turkey wants to surprise his friends with very punny Valentines, but finds it hard to actually surprise them.

12. Happy Valentine’s Day Little Critter by Mercer Meyer

We can’t have a book list without including Little Critter. What I loved about this story is that at the end (spoiler alert), his secret Valentine is his mom. How cute is that?

13. Fancy Nancy Heart to Heart by Jane O’Connor

In this Fancy Nancy book she is attempting to discover the identity of her secret admirer. Ronia is a fan of everything pink and princess-y, so she loves this book. It also has stickers, so bonus!

14. When I Hold You by Ashley Huffstutler

Of all the valentine books on the list, this one is my favorite. Honestly, When I Hold you is one of my favorite books in Ronia’s entire collection. It’s written from the perspective of a mother who is basically speaking scripture over her baby. The verses are written as part of the art in the book, and it’s simply beautiful. A must-buy.

15. Peppa’s Valentine’s Day by Courtney Carbone

Peppa learns about Valentine’s when she receives one in the mail from her friend. She then decides to make valentines for all her friends and through a little party. I’m not the biggest Peppa fan, but this book is actually really sweet.

16. Disney Baby: Here Comes Valentine’s Day

If your child is a fan of the lift-a-flap books or of Disney, then this is an excellent choice. Ronia loves both, so she was thrilled to check it out. I meant to keep it as her actually day-of Valentines gift… but she found it and all was lost.

17. Peek a Boo Love by Camilla Reid

Peek a Boo Love is a pretty simple book and wouldn’t be anything too special, except for the ingenious slider mechanisms on every page. My daughter loves to figure out how to move pieces on each page. I will day, maybe a book to read under supervision, because she has almost broke is several times.

18. Happy Valentine’s Day Curious George!

Much like the Peppa Pig book, Curious George makes valentines with his friends and has a little party. You can’t go wrong with Curious George. He’s jus the cutest.
