5 Scriptures to Start the School Year Right

The start of the school year is upon us. Can you believe it? Our daughter starts preschool a couple mornings a week here soon, and I feel completely unprepared. Not physically, but emotionally. In order to prepare my heart, I made a list of scriptures to ponder and thought I would share those with you. Below are 5 Scriptures to Start the School Year Right.

1. “Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

School can be scary, especially if you are an introvert or don’t know anyone in your class. Pray over your little ones to be strong and courageous. Read this scripture with them in the morning to give them comfort.

2. “Let all that you do be done in love.” – 1 Corin. 16:14

Let all that we do be done in love, and may we be Christ-like in our example.

3. “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. There is no law against these things!” -Galatians 5:22-23

Pray the fruits of the Spirit over your kids. There are also several kids books that talk about the Fruits of the Spirit. You could read them to prepare for the school year!

4. “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” – Colossians 3:23

We are not working hard in school to make our parents proud or to be better than our classmates. No, we should be working hard to honor and glorify God in all we do.

5. “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” John 15:12

Our last scripture is from John 15, and I know we already talked about 1 Corinthians 16:14, but I wanted to include this one in the list as well. So much good comes from loving one another as Christ loves us.
